What is Hypnotherapy?

 

Hypnotherapy is simply therapy that uses hypnosis or, as some people know it, auto-suggestion. Put very simply, clients wanting to make changes in their lives need to change their beliefs, thoughts, habits or emotions – all of which are in the subconscious mind. The huge advantage of using hypnotherapy is that it gives access to the subconscious – which means that hypnotherapy is better, easier or more powerful way to make the desired changes.

 

Imagine being able to make those changes solely by using the power of your own mind – without the use of any drugs at all!

 

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a totally natural state where a client is relaxed in both mind and body. While in this relaxed state most people become focussed on a single thing, which absorbs their attention to the extent that they may not be fully aware of other things going on around them.

 

Scientific research has shown that while it is in this relaxed state the brain produces Alpha waves, and we do this several times a day, for example when we daydream, or when we wake up and fall asleep.

 

Hypnosis totally natural, totally safe – and there is nothing new about it.

 

The client is always in control of their hypnosis. The therapist simply guides them, but it all depends on the client wanting to go into hypnosis. And the client is always in control of what happens while they are in hypnosis – they will never act on anything said unless they want to.

 

Hypnotherapy is not new – it has been used to help people for several hundreds of years. But as it becomes more widely understood it is rapidly growing in demand as a therapy.

 

Any good therapist has a range to therapeutic “techniques” in order to tailor the therapy to each client’s individual needs.  The major hypnotherapeutic “techniques” I use are:

  • Suggestion Therapy
  • Regression Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Parts Therapy

 

As needed, I also teach clients to use the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Eye Movement Therapy (EMT). While these do not involve hypnosis, they allow the client to continue their own therapy.
